Challenge

Following the successful revitalisation of the Mounties entry, port cochere, terrace bar and modern Chinese restaurant Johnny Fongs, WMK was engaged to design the new members' and sports bar which was relocated within the club.

The brief called for a warm and cosy space that offers a modern take on the sports bar whilst respecting the heritage of the members' bar facility. 

Solution

WMK has designed a space that is well suited to the bar’s disparate uses. 

Lounges and pendant lighting encourage visitors to linger in the members’ bar, while the sports bar features ample LCD screens, interactive digital tables, and a sophisticated sound system – perfect for watching big sporting events with friends.

A battened ceiling combined with aluminium piping cladding screens the spaces and provides acoustic separation. Lighting adds ambience, energising the sports bar and softening the members' lounge.

Masculine concrete floors and warm timbers are softened by ambient feature lighting and tactile fabrics.

Outcome

Mounties now has a sophisticated members' and sports bar offering that attracts existing members as well as a new, younger clientele.

The sports bar offers an interactive and engaging space, perfect for watching and betting on sporting events, while the members' bar offers a quiet place for guests to relax and retreat.
