This is a leadership opportunity for a designer who thrives on concept-driven work, brings a strong and confident point of view, and can guide projects from early vision through to delivery. While our portfolio spans multiple sectors, experience in workplace design—and a deep understanding of how people engage with space—is highly valued.
About the role
You will lead the design direction on key projects, working closely with clients and internal teams to translate strategic briefs into compelling, high-performing environments. From pitching and concept development through to documentation oversight and site engagement, you will ensure design integrity is maintained at every stage.
This role suits someone who can operate both strategically and hands-on—equally confident presenting to clients as they are resolving detailed design outcomes and mentoring team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creative direction and design narrative across multiple projects
- Develop innovative, human-centric design solutions across sectors including workplace, hospitality, residential, and mixed-use
- Oversee projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring design quality and consistency
- Guide and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and design-led culture
- Present confidently to clients, articulating design intent and strategy
- Collaborate with consultants and project teams to ensure integrated, buildable outcomes
- Maintain a strong focus on documentation quality, detailing, and project delivery
- Contribute to design pitches, client engagement, and studio growth initiatives

- Brings a strong design voice and conceptual thinking, backed by technical rigour
- Has proven experience leading projects and engaging directly with clients
- Is confident navigating both big-picture strategy and detailed resolution
- Has experience (or a strong interest) in workplace environments and user experience design
- Communicates with clarity, confidence, and professionalism
- Is proactive, accountable, and motivated to lead, mentor, and elevate those around you
Why Join WMK
At WMK, you’ll be part of a design-led, collaborative studio working on diverse and high-quality projects across Australia. We are committed to delivering environments that are not only visually compelling, but also considered, functional, and enduring.
Our culture is team-first, dynamic, and supportive, where strong ideas are valued, initiative is encouraged, and individuals are empowered to take ownership of their work.
