CHALLENGE

Charter Hall engaged WMK to design the multimillion-dollar refurbishment & repositioning of this major 4-star hotel adjacent to the Sydney International Aiport at Mascot, one of only three hotels in the International Airport precinct Working with FDC Construction & Fitout and project managers Gallagher Jeffs, WMK was tasked with delivering a cost-effective design solution which would bring the property in line with guest expectations while enhancing revenue and occupancy and increasing the value of the hotel asset

SOLUTION

WMK’s design brings a contemporary palette of materials, finishes & FF&E to guestrooms, suites and corridors across 8 levels of the hotel. In addition, WMK designed a full upgrade and expansion of restaurant and bar on ground level including the creation of new external terrace areas with direct access from internal dining spaces.
WMK’s scope also included upgraded entry foyer, hotel lobby and reception areas as well as facade remediation and cosmetic upgrades to deliver a fully repositioned hotel property for the owner and operator.

OUTCOME

The fully refurbished & repositioned hotel was re-branded from Mercure to Novotel in early 2019 with the new architecture and interiors contributing to increased revenue, higher occupancy and successfully aligning the hotel with the demands of the international visitor as well as delivering a dynamic hotel offering for local business, conference and leisure travellers.
