ST PETERS LUTHERAN COLLEGE

SPORTS HALL

The St Peters Lutheran College Sports Hall is a contemporary, high-performance facility that supports the College’s vision for excellence in education, wellbeing and sport. Located at a key junction within the campus, the building is conceived as both a high-performance venue and a defining civic element that connects the academic core, Mayer Oval and the emerging sports precinct.

Moving beyond the traditional inward-focused sports hall typology, the design establishes a clear and legible environment grounded in principles of physical and visual connectivity. Spaces are carefully oriented to their surroundings, reinforcing relationships between sport, learning and everyday campus life.

Three multi-purpose courts form the core of the facility, with the ability to transform into a show court through retractable seating. A dedicated strength and conditioning zone, including a sprint track, is complemented by contemporary learning spaces, staff areas and supporting amenities — creating an integrated environment that supports both elite performance and daily use.

The architectural form is articulated to break down scale and create a more human-centred experience, while passive design strategies support environmental performance and long-term adaptability. External terraces and connected circulation paths further enhance opportunities for gathering, spectating and community interaction.
