CHALLENGE

The electrotechnology industry is a significant contributor to the Australian economy and plays a vital role in supporting various industries, including mining, manufacturing, construction, and telecommunications. WMK was engaged by Electrogroup to design a Centre of Excellence for training in Renewable Energy, Electrical, Solar, Risk, and Telecommunications to ensure that the electrical workforce of Queensland is equipped for a growing and sustainable future.

SOLUTION

A strong, pedestrianised solar-enabled spine connects the site entry to the Brisbane River, providing an activated heart to this modern, state of the art Facility. Two buildings, connected by an elevated bridge that intersects the heart of the campus providing flexible teaching spaces for both practical and theoretical learning, student facilities as well as executive offices, staff facilities, and large flexible multi-purpose spaces, allowing the RETF at Pinkenba Electrogroup to become an industry focal point and centre of excellence.

OUTCOME

WMK's design of Electrogroup's Centre of Excellence in Pinkemba supports our nation's future in electrotechnology with a new state-of-the-art Renewable Energy Training Facility including an industry-first training field.
