CHALLENGE
To repurpose and reposition an existing textiles distributor (warehouse) into a modern we-work office space which promotes collaboration and a new way of remote and agile working environments.
SOLUTION
WMK developed a bold architectural design by using strong materials with finer details to provide contemporary uplift to the existing brick facade, while paying respect to the existing site conditions. The ground floor provides a member only café space that fronts William Street and has internal stair access to 2 levels of co-working spaces. The top 2 floors of the development will house the clients future head office, including stadium style auditorium seating, outdoor terrace with a rooftop mixed use basketball and pickle court
OUTCOME
The result was a high end office development that brings a new level of sophistication to the neighbouring urban fabric. Creating a bespoke design responding to the gentrifying context and urban environment. Balancing the old and the new harmoniously has created a new way of working in what is traditionally a predominantly industrial neighbourhood.
Walking distance to the Balaclava Train Station and Carlisle Street, this development is a catalyst project which will change not only the built environment but enhance the social fibre of the broader community.
