Challenge
Motivated to keep the asset in line with the ever evolving Brisbane market, the client engaged WMK to complete the lobby upgrade of 60 Albert St, a contemporary A-Grade office building in Brisbane’s midtown precinct.
Working within a tight budget WMK were tasked with revitalising the space while retaining many of the existing features and finishes.
Solution
WMK undertook a thorough analysis of the existing lobby to identify which dominant elements could be removed to help revive the space. A hybrid scheme saw the design open up the limited space by reconfiguring the waiting area to reduce bottlenecks and crowding as well as simplifying the architectural language through the inclusion of seamless flowing finishes and feature angled lighting.
The basement amenities were transformed into a green oasis through the introduction of feature plants and warm lighting. A smart reconfiguration maximised the available space and highlights the new amenity offerings. By developing design solutions that complement and enhance the existing elements, the lobby and EOT were transformed into a bright fresh spaces.
Outcome
WMK have delivered a revitalised lobby and end of trip experience, which respects the existing architecture through the overlay of seamless, complimentary finishes, joinery and sculptural feature lighting. The fresh, contemporary solution in the lobby resolves circulation flows, addresses wayfinding within the space and offers a refreshed inviting and functional waiting and lobby space. The end of trip facilities have been modernised and clever design has improved the health and wellbeing offering of the building.
