CHALLENGE
To revitalise and refurbish the old, dated lobby and end of trip space. The retail space along Flinders Lane laid vacant and uninspiring with access from the lobby only. The lobby lacked amenity and didn’t utilise the large glazed façade, overlooking mezzanine level or high ceilings. The end of trip space was basic and disjointed from the lobby.
SOLUTION
WMK worked with the existing conditions to bring warmth and texture to the lobby, capturing a sense of calm between the interior and exterior. The cafe was relocated along Queen Street allowing the space to maximise the use of natural light while establishing a distinct Flinders Lane presence and new entry point.
Utilising the varied heights to our advantage, WMK created a range of spaces each suited to their use. The finishing features of natural and muted tones breathes life into the end of trip, creating an elegant, clean and welcoming environment for tenants.
OUTCOME
The relocated café along Queen Street has rejuvenated a once tired lobby, not only bringing its street presence to fruition, but also life within the lobby itself. The careful consideration of the café, business lounge and casual settings have activated all corners of the lobby, maximising its value.
