WMK has been appointed to design a new luxury boutique hotel for 8Hotels in the growing suburb of Kensington.
Owner Paul Fischmann and new partner Jonathan Hasson acquired 500sqm site at 229 Anzac Parade, comprising of a residential block of 6 individually owned strata units. The purchase was negotiated off market with the individual owners for approximately $7.5m and therefore did not require a strata renewal process.
Working with WMK, 8Hotels plans to develop the site into a 2000sqm cutting edge, design boutique hotel with a collegiate theme incorporating 70-80 rooms, bar/restaurant and co-working space to cater to the demand currently under-serviced from the UNSW, NIDA, Randwick Racecourse and the growing commercial and residential community.
Guests will easily be able to access the hotel and surrounding CBD and Surry Hills with the property located on the doorstep of the new UNSW Light Rail stop.
This is the second acquisition Fischmann & Hasson who plan to announce further hotel development deals in the near future.
WMK have a strong history in hotels, and have recently completed the new Vibe Hotel Darling Harbour.
Builder for the project is Alessi Design & Build.
The hotel is expected to open in 2022.
