WMK took out the best in architectural design: commercial and residential architecture at the 2017 Good Design Awards.
The celebration was held last night at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney, where we were treated to spectacular views across Circular Quay during the Vivid Festival.
The Good Design awards are the highest design honour in the country, recognising the significant achievements of Australian designers from digital and graphics through to strategy, social innovation, and of course, interior design and architecture.
WMK’s winning project was ‘Sargood on Collaroy’ – a highly innovative accessible resort designed specifically for people with spinal injuries. The building resonates with its spectacular beach-side location and is a world-first.
The judges were effusive in their praise and noted that the facility set a new benchmark in design and made a real difference to people’s lives.
WMK Managing Director Greg Barnett said, “Receiving this award has been a big honour; congratulations to The Sargood Foundation and everyone involved in this fantastic project.”
