French artist Olivier Grossetete has been in Sydney overseeing workshops and the creation of a mini-city known as The Ephemeral City within ‘The Cutaway’ at Barangaroo Reserve as part of the Sydney Festival.
It’s a community participation event. The collection of towers and turrets, all made from cardboard and sticky tape, are built by the people of Sydney. A flying fox runs through the space, allowing the public to view the cardboard city from above.
Several members of the WMK team visited The Ephemeral City to experience it first-hand.
“It’s fantastic to see a project we delivered being used and embraced like this by fellow Sydney-siders,” said WMK Interior Designer, Loretta Nagy.
The team at WMK was proud to work with Lendlease and the Barangaroo Delivery Authority as the architectural design consultant for The Cutaway at Barangaroo.
The 19-metre high towers were demolished on site on Australia Day.
