On Sunday, August 24th, at 3 PM, Australia By Design will feature WMK's design of the inspiring work of NextSense, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting people with vision or hearing loss in Australia.

NextSense is a leader in therapy, education, and cochlear implant services, empowering individuals with hearing and vision loss to thrive. They offer everything from early intervention programs and world-class audiology services to early learning and primary school education. Their mission is to create a world where everyone can fully participate and succeed.

One of the most exciting aspects of NextSense’s development is their new purpose-built facility at Macquarie University. This multi-faceted space features sensory-first design principles that enhance accessibility, making it a model of inclusion and innovation. With sensory gardens, tactile materials, and state-of-the-art therapy rooms, this space is designed with everyone in mind. Whether it’s the acoustically-treated booths for audiometric testing or the school’s classrooms that seamlessly connect to outdoor areas, the design embraces both form and function.

The episode will showcase how these visionary designs help children and adults with vision and hearing impairments achieve greater independence and thrive in an environment that caters to their specific needs. Don’t miss this behind-the-scenes look at how NextSense is reshaping the future of accessibility.

Be sure to tune in
