Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is a celebration of fashion and culture. It is the Australia’s premier fashion and lifestyle event showcasing the country’s leading designer brands.
This year, the opening show by Melbourne-based designer Toni Maticevski was held in the Cutaway beneath Barangaroo Reserve.
On a 40 metre-wide catwalk, within the cavernous concrete and sandstone interior of the Cutaway, Maticevki’s show played out in front of 1200 guests including celebrities like Jennifer Hawkins, Isabelle Cornish, Delta Goodrem, and Terry Biviano.
Maticevski joins a prestigious list of designers at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Australia including Kym Ellery, Carla Zampatti, and Easton Pearson.

The Cutaway is a flexible shell space, 6,500m2 in footprint and capable of containing three floors, carved within the headland. This flexible multi-use events and cultural space features 14 metre high ceilings and a dramatic sandstone cliff face running the length of the interior, illuminated by skylights set into the landscaping above.
WMK worked with Lendlease and the Barangaroo Delivery Authority as the architectural design consultant to deliver the Cutaway.
