Hotel Indigo & Apartments has been shortlisted for the 2026 New Zealand Institute of Architects Awards.

Designed byDalman Architects,Studio.SCand WMK in association, this 43-storey mixed-use tower brings together the boutique experience of Hotel Indigo with a collection of private residences, all carefully integrated within the heritage fabric of downtown Auckland.

The project builds on WMK’s early involvement in the site, with associated design work commencing in 2017. This foundational phase, including original concept sketches, ultimately led to WMK securing the initial Resource Consent for the Albert Street development, helping to establish the vision that underpins the realised scheme.

Set behind restored historic façades and adjacent to an 1800s cathedral, the design responds sensitively to its context. A slender tower form, considered proportions, and a restrained material palette allow the building to sit comfortably within the city’s evolving skyline.

At ground level, activated food and beverage spaces within the heritage podium reconnect the site to the street, contributing to the transformation of the precinct from a former warehouse district into a vibrant cultural hub.
