On Sunday 18 September the WMK Sydney team took part in the Blackmores Running Festival.

The festival is run on one of the most spectacular courses in the world, taking in all of the Sydney iconic landmarks and providing all runners with a unique opportunity of crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge traffic-free.

The grey, drizzly weather didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the WMK team, with everyone powering on to cross the finish line.

We had a variety of walkers and runners completing several different courses – from the 4 kilometre family fun run through to the 21 kilometre half marathon.

Architectural Lead Todd Read was WMK’s star competitor, completing the 9 kilmetre bridge run in just 39 minutes.

The Blackmores Running Festival started in 2001 and now boasts more than 32,000 participants from over 66 countries each year.

As part of its health and wellbeing program, WMK sponsored employees’ entries in this year’s fun run.

“What a fabulous day we had,” said WMK's HR & Operations Manager, Jenny Haynes.

“Huge congratulations to Todd and his fantastic result, and to the various nine kilometre walkers, joggers and runners – and of course to the four kilometre family fun runners!” she added.
