Solent Circuit

Norwest

Challenge

The client’s brief was to design a twin commercial tower development that sits over a large retail componant that could be used as a showroom for their project home business.
The desire was to stage the development allowing the building plus the associated parking and showroom space that fronts Solent Circut to be constructed first.

Outcome

The Solent Circuit development will set a benchmark for Norwest Business Park. The building facades are predominantly floor to ceiling glazed with a varied deep mullion layout that breaks down the scale of both buildings.
Both buildings will read as a family but with different personalities. The podium facade is made up of mainly brick with off form concrete details grounding the development into its context.

Solution

Given the site is on a corner, an entry forecourt between the towers has been designed so as to access both foyers, the cafe and the showroom.
Both towers are 9 levels with a floor plate of approximately 1800m2 each over 1500m2 of retail and 3 basement levels.
Each are designed with a central core and are oriented a 90 degrees to each other so that both have visual and physical links back to Solent Circuit.
