7 MACQUARIE PLACE

SYDNEY

CHALLENGE

WMK was engaged by the client to refurbish the tired entrance and lobby of this commercial asset to assist with upgrading the facility in line with the regeneration works in a popular part of the Sydney CBD.
The design brief called for WMK to add street presence to the façade and create additional amenity on the ground floor plane.

SOLUTION

Working to a tight budget, WMK’s design response added presence to the street front through the incorporation of portals to the primary façade off Macquarie Place and lush greenery throughout the external forecourt, and widening of the pedestrian ramp to create more inviting entry. Activation of the ground floor lobby was created through the clever use of furniture settings that provide for multiple purposes.

OUTCOME

The utilisation of impactful design modifications has enabled the client to retain and reinvigorate much of the building’s existing finishes whilst providing for a welcoming and contemporary new look and feel for visitors and tenants alike.
