SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, CAIRNS
WMK was engaged to design a new 300-seat dining experience as part of the $40mil refurbishment of the Shangri-La Hotel in Cairns.
WMK delivered an integrated new open kitchen and hot/cold self-serve buffet operating from breakfast to midnight using a modern Asian theme to reduce the scale and introduce texture to a high service area.
Using fresh colour palettes and natural textured materials such as stone and timber, the team at WMK echoed the contemporary reef and rainforest ambience of both the hotel and shopping centre.
The outcome is an elegant waterfront dining environment offering mountain and sea views.
Following its sophisticated redesign by WMK, the Tides restaurant has received a host of industry attention, including numerous hospitality awards.
