Challenge

WMK set out to reinvigorate the ground floor of HCF House – nestled between the busy George and York Streets in Sydney’s centre – into an activated, useful space while reflecting the established, health-focused brand of HCF.

Solution

To make clever use of underutilised spaces and activate the foyer, WMK proposed a new café and business centre.

A long, sculptural carved wall creates interest and movement, linking the two street entrances, while a living green wall reinforces HCF’s health and wellbeing positioning.

The bookable business centre features a mix of meeting rooms and flexible spaces, a kitchen, and touch-down spaces and can be used by any tenant in the building.

The spaces have been enhanced with high-end fixtures and furnishings combined with a refined contemporary palette.

Outcome

Through creative planning, the WMK team has turned a foyer with pockets of unused spaces into a vibrant and useful facility that increases tenant satisfaction.

The business centre promotes integration and is a valuable resource for the building owner, while the bustling café activates the foyer and streetscape.

The classic colour palette will stand the test of time, while the design language is consistent with the organisation’s branding.

HCF now has an active and vibrant foyer, befitting of an A-grade building, and further positioning the health fund as a desirable place to work.
